One of the top track athletes in program history, Plowden was a eight-time All-American in her career at IUP.
As a junior at the NCAA Division II outdoor championships in 2001, Plowden took home the national title in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.66. Plowden earned PSAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year honors as a junior and senior while also earning the PSAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year after her senior season.
She still owns outdoor conference and school records in the 100 (11.56) and 200 meters (23.83), as well as indoor conference and school records in the 60 (7.48) and 200 meters (24.88).
Currently a physical therapist, Plowden continued her track career after her graduation from IUP in 2002, as she was a three-time USA finalist in the 60 meters (2007, 2010, 2011). She earned her master’s degree from the University of Indianapolis in 2005 and is married to Stephen Plowden, Jr.
