A four-year letterman in football, Dawson captained the 1955 team which registered two shutouts and posted a win over California.

Also as a senior, Dawson was named to the Pennsylvania college’s all-state team. A two-sport star at Indiana State Teacher’s College (ISTC), he also lettered three times on the baseball diamond.

A 1956 graduate of ISTC, Dawson later received his master’s degree from American University in 1993. He retired in 1996 from QSP, Inc., a subsidiary of Reader’s Digest.

He and his wife Nancy have four children, sons Bill and Brian and daughters Mary and Sue.
