Dave Medvetz was a four-sport athlete at Homer-Center High School, and that
success translated to his time at IUP and beyond. Medvetz was initially recruited as a wide receiver by head coach George Chaump, but he made the decision to focus on track & field after his freshman year. He went on to earn All-America honors in 1986 and graduate as the program’s all-time top decathlete.
Medvetz was a team captain his junior and senior year, and he set a PSAC record for most points in the decathlon (6,890) during the 1985 season. He is the only three-time PSAC Champion in the decathlon and the first IUP athlete to ever win the grueling event. Medvetz continued to compete after college, and he was named as one of the Top 20 Decathletes in the USA by the Deca Newsletter.
Medvetz graduated in 1986 with a degree from the Eberly College of Business on the Outstanding Executives/Presidents List. He has founded multiple businesses, including his current one, Blue Sky Services Real Estate, LLC. He has a wife, Jamie, and two children, Eve (11) and Ace (9). They reside in Raleigh, N.C.
