Induction into the IUP Athletic Hall of Fame completes an impressive run of professional recognition for Ed Bouchette that began in 2014 with the prestigious Dick McCann Award, given to one NFL writer annually at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and continued last year with receiving the IUP Distinguished Alumni Award and the Bill Burns Award for Lifetime Achievement in Journalism.
Bouchette joined the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 1983 and has covered the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers since 1985. He is a member of the board of selectors for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and has covered more than 30 Super Bowls, five of those involving the Steelers. He has authored two books on the Steelers and helped co-author others, including the NFL’s 75th Anniversary book. Bouchette’s work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, Sport, Pro Football Weekly, Pennsylvania Lawyer Magazine, Street & Smith’s, TV Guide, and many more publications. He also has worked for the Tribune-Review in Greensburg, the McKeesport Daily News, the Indiana Gazette, the York Dispatch, and the Doylestown Daily Intelligencer.
A native of Lynn, MA, his family moved to Lebanon County in Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from IUP in business management in 1973. Bouchette lives in Pittsburgh and has three grown children, Scott, Danielle, and Brittany, two grandsons, and longtime partner, Annie Fedel.
