They say nobody can make a point stick like a javelin thrower, and Frank Paronish proved it over and over again during his career at IUP.
As a member of the IUP Track and Field team from 1977 through 1980, Paronish came in first place in the PSAC in 1977 and ’78. He set a meet record at Marshall University of 231 feet, 10 inches. The All-American came in second at both the 1977 NCAA Division II National Championships and 1977 NCAA International Competition in Mexico City. Paronish again competed in the NCAA Division II National Championship in 1978, where he placed sixth.
Today, Paronish is a retired science teacher at Northern Cambria where he was also the head football coach.
Paronish and his wife, Rebecca, live in Nicktown, PA. The couple has three grown children, Shawn, Robert, and Chadwick.
