The 14 inductees will be joined by Gene Bicego, this year’s Honorary Bell Ringer Award recipient for his contributions to IUP Athletics.
Bicego volunteered for 24 years with the IUP football team, coaching several All-
Americans. During his time at IUP, Bicego coached four punters that were All-PSAC West award winners. He also coached six kickers that were All-PSAC West award winners.
Bicego served as an assistant coach for the Homer-Center track & field team from 1972-81. During his time with the Wildcats, he helped guide the team to multiple district and state championships.
Bicego graduated from Edinboro University in 1970 with a
bachelor’s degree in education. He earned his master’s degree in math education from IUP in 1973. A retired school teacher, Bicego lives with his wife, June, in Indiana.
