Heather Packard began attending IUP in 1996, majoring in interior design. She was a part of the program’s women’s varsity swimming team.
During her career at IUP, Packard received recognition on the PSAC and NCAA level, earning all-conference honors all four years, while achieving 18 top-three finishes in the PSAC meets and earned All-American status 14 times.
Packard was part of the team that broke a PSAC meet record (400 Free Relay) and five IUP school records (200 Free, 500 Free, 1000 Free, 400 Free Relay, 800 Free Relay). in 1995-96, she played a key role on a team that capturing the PSAC championship for the first time in program history.
Packard also received the Most Dedicated Swimmer Award and was voted Most Valuable Swimmer twice during her career. Her name appeared on the Dean’s list multiple times and received numerous Scholar Athlete Awards.
Since graduation, Packard has competed in marathons and helps raise awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Societies. She is currently an Account Executive for Ethosource, and resides in Aston, Pa. with her husband Robert Kifer, Jr.
