Jeffrey Turnage began his football career in grand fashion, earning the 1992 ECAC Rookie of the Year award. He was a two-time first team All-American selection as a nose tackle in 1994 and 1995. His work in the classroom netted him CoSIDA
Academic All-American honors in 1995.
Turnage was an integral part to some of the greatest teams in IUP football history. He played for teams that had four shutouts and compiled a 39-8-1 record. This run included three PSAC West championships, two NCAA playoff berths, and a trip to the national championship game, in 1993.
After college, Turnage became a member of the President’s Athletic Advisory Committee.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in management in 1995 and came back to IUP to receive his master’s degree in industrial relations in 1996. Turnage and his wife, Barbara, have two children, Nicholas (11) and Emily (9) and reside in Haddonfield, N.J.
