To succeed as a goalie in field hockey requires grit, courage, fast reflexes, and a refusal to ever give in. Jennifer Weiss displayed all of those qualities while a player on the IUP team, as validated by her induction to the Hall of Fame.

From 1998 to 2001, she played all four years, racking up some impressive achievements along the way, including; selection to the All-Tournament Team at the 2000 National Field Hockey Tournament, earning the Most Valuable Player award at the East Stroudsburg Invitational Tournament in 2001, and selection to play in the 2001 National Field Hockey Association Coaches’ Division II North/South All-Star game. In addition, she set the NCAA Division II record with the most saves recorded in a playoff game in 2000, and recorded the lowest goals allowed and best save percentage in a season.

After graduating from Parkland High School in Allentown, PA, she earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from IUP in 2001, and a master’s degree in education from Wilkes College in 2009. Today, Weiss is a mathematics teacher and lives in Frederick , MD, with her husband, Shaun, and their children Julia and Kevin.
