Jodie Swavely was a force with either a ball or a bat in her hands during a decorated career at IUP.

Swavely earned All-PSAC honors in all four of her seasons as a Crimson Hawk—twice as a pitcher, twice as both a pitcher and utility player—and won 62 games, tied for second most in school history. She ranks second in career strikeouts (643) and shutouts (26) and third in earned run average (1.66). Swavely went 18-6 with a 1.67 ERA in 2005 when IUP advanced to the NCAA tournament.

She was just as dominant at the plate. Swavely ranks second all-time at IUP with 26 home runs, third with 111 runs and 24 stolen bases, fourth with 164 hits and 29 doubles, and fifth with 96 RBIs and 10 triples. She set a school record, since broken, with nine home runs in 2006, when she hit a team- and career-high .372.

One of 16 players selected to play in Belgium on the USA Athletes International all-star team in 2005, Swavely returned there after graduation and spent two seasons with the Borgerhout Squirrels, who won the European championship tournament in Bulgaria in 2009. She pitched in seven of the team's nine games and slugged two home runs.

Swavely served as an assistant coach at Armstrong Atlantic (Ga.) State, Kutztown, Columbus (Ga.) State and Mount Alvernia between 2006 and 2013. Her teams compiled a 257-110-2 record.

She resides in Sanford, N.C., with her husband, Jonathan Brown, and their children, Brogan (8), Maelyn (5) and Brennus (3). Before recently relocating to Sanford, Swavely had worked as a U.S. Department of Defense civilian medical support assistant.
