Lacey (George) Gibson set a few IUP volleyball records that still stand today, nearly 10 years after her last collegiate competition. Gibson recorded a school record 6,473 assists in her career. At the time of her graduation, Gibson held the school record with 139 aces. She also won the AVCA Atlantic Region Freshman of the Year award in 2001.
Gibson was a member of the All-PSAC West first team in 2002 and 2004 and was a member of the second team in 2003. She and her teammates won nearly 74 percent of their games during her career.
The 2005 IUP graduate helped her team to more than 100 victories and capped a sterling career by earning a varsity letter in each of her four seasons. Gibson earned a master’s degree in sport management at Slippery Rock in 2006 and is now the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at West Virginia University. Gibson and her husband, Justin, have one child, Reese (1).
