Marvin Kelley and baseball – perfect together. His career on the diamond while a student at IUP makes the case for this statement, no question.
As a first baseman, Kelley played on IUP’s two PSAC championship teams in 1988 and 1990. He led the nation in triples among all Division II players during his 1987 freshman season. Even today, Kelley remains among the Top 10 in eight IUP all-time offensive categories, including second in triples and sixth in total runs batted in.
A graduate of Trinity High School in Washington, PA, Kelley earned a bachelor’s degree in business and human resource management from IUP in 1990. He works today as a senior training and development specialist at Goodwill Industries. He lives in Charlotte, NC, with his wife, Chelita. They have three children, Morgan, Mason, and Miles.
