o be a successful wrestler requires power, balance, and a mind that can think strategically to stay ahead of your competition. The lessons learned on the wrestling mat have served Rich Bonaccorsi well for life after the final pin had been achieved in college.
Bonaccorsi wrestled for IUP for four years, from 1982 through 1986. During that span, the Pittsburgh native competed in the 177-190 pound category. Over his IUP wrestling career, Bonaccorsi racked up a number of accolades, including being named an All-American at the 177-pound level, achieving distinction as a four-time PSAC place winner, and earning placement as the Eastern Regional Champion in 1984.
Today, he serves as a teacher with the Pittsburgh Public Schools system.
The Keystone Oaks High School graduate earned a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from IUP in 1986, and a master’s degree in athletic administration from North Dakota State University in 1996. He lives in Pittsburgh with his two children, Bruno and Camille.
