A four-year letterman on the basketball court, Lynch was a part of teams that went 65-35 during his time at IUP. This includes the 1973-74 team that went 21-8, winning the PSAC and NAIA district championships.
The MVP of IUP’s Holiday Classic in 1974, Lynch set career highs of 28 points and 21 rebounds and was a first team All-PSAC West selection. He was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder in the 1974-75 season and finished his career with 506 rebounds. In addition, Lynch set a then-school record in the discus for the 1975 undefeated track & field team.
Earning his bachelor’s degree in 1977, Lynch went on to receive his master’s from IUP in 1980. He went on to work for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections as a vocational counselor for 23 years.
