Robert "Doc" Raemore

As a coach for the IUP track and field team, Robert ‘Doc’ Raemore expected results from his runners. Raemore was a long time coach for IUP. He was the assistant coach from 1973-80 and 1984-2008. Raemore served as head coach from 1980-84.

Raemore coached Raemore coached three national champions, seven All-Americans, and even a future Olympian during his time at IUP. He was named the NCAA Division II Women’s Track and Field Coach of the Year in 2007 and is also of member of the PIAA Track and Field Hall of Fame as well as the West Branch Valley Sports Hall of Fame.

Raemore graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in natural science. He later graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry, was a Captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps 123rd Medical Detachment, and practiced dentistry in Indiana for over 40 years. He passed away unexpectedly in 2013.

Raemore is survived by his wife, Shirley, and two daughters, Allison (Peiritsch) and Emily (Rosenbaum).
