Sam Scott and fellow inductee Jeff Brown teamed up in the late 70s and early 80s to provide IUP with one of the strongest 1-2 punches any men's basketball team in the nation had during that era.

A forward and four-time letterman, Scott's name remains etched in the IUP record book. He ranks as the sixth all-time leading scorer in school history with 1,369 points, third with 585 made field goals and fourth with 738 rebounds. He is one of only 13 IUP players to grab 20 rebounds in a game, reaching that figure against Edinboro in 1981.

Scott's success on the hardwood resulted in several postseason honors. He was chosen as an ECAC Player of the Week, named to the PSAC West first team in each of his final three seasons and was on the NAIA District 18 second team as a junior in 1981. He received the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame Dick Kadis Award in 1982.

Scott graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1977 and earned his bachelor's degree from IUP in 1982. He began his career at Wendy's Old-Fashioned Hamburgers and then became a franchisee for The Briad Group, Wendy's parent company and one of the fastest growing hospitality companies in the United States. Scott is also the area director for the Philadelphia Direct Marketing Association.

Scott and his wife, Tina, are the parents of Samuel Jr., Ashley and Tierra.
