Sarah Zdesar-McKinney

Sarah (Zdesar) McKinney was a forward and center for the women’s basketball team from 1999-2003. She was a three-time All-PSAC West selection and still holds the record for career free throws made (381). 

McKinney finished her career with 1,339 career points and 882 career rebounds, which were ranked fifth and third, respectively, at the time of her graduation. 

She also was a defender and goalie for the IUP women’s lacrosse team in 2003. After her career on the court at IUP, McKinney went on to play basketball professionally in Groningen, Holland. 

McKinney earned her bachelor’s degree from IUP in 2005, in physical education. She earned her master’s from IUP in 2010, in sport management. 

McKinney is a physical education teacher. She and her husband, Jarod have four children, Kayden (7), Ashlyn (5), Gracyn (3) and Bradyn (2), and reside in Willoughby, Ohio.
