Wes Layton was an integral part to the success of the IUP men’s basketball program at the turn of the millennium. Layton started all 60 games he played in during his IUP career from 2000-02.  As a co-captain, he helped catapult IUP into the Final Four with a 27-point performance against Northwest Missouri State in 2002. He was more than a scorer, however, as he notched 277 career assists. At the time of his graduation, Layton ranked in the top 10 in both three-point field goals (105) and three-point field goal percentage (39.2).

As an assistant coach, Layton helped guide the team to a PSAC Championship in 2003-04. He coached three All-PSAC players during his coaching tenure at IUP.

Layton graduated from IUP in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He followed that with a master’s degree in sport administration from IUP in 2006. He currently works at Boston Scientific as a medical device senior territory manager. Layton resides in Olathe, Kansas and has a wife, Kelly. They have two children, Owen (4) and Olivia (1).
