Former IUP softball player
Erin Holloway (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) has been selected as the PSAC's nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year award for the 2010-11 school year.
Holloway recently completed her college career after another standout season with the Crimson Hawks. She is one of several hundred of the finest graduating female student-athletes in the country that have been nominated for the honor.
The final list of nominees from across the country will announced by the NCAA in early July, and the national winner will be announced at the NCAA Woman of the Year awards dinner in Indianapolis on October 16.
The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their college careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.
In 2011 Holloway led IUP to its first PSAC championship and was named the MVP of the conference tournament. She also guided the Crimson Hawks to their first appearance in the Division II World Series by winning five straight games in the Atlantic Region tournament and 11 overall in the postseason including six in the PSAC tournament.
Holloway finished her career as the school's all-time leader in every pitching category and ranked third in PSAC history with 1,004 strikeouts, 105 complete games and 803.2 innings pitched, fifth in wins with 78 and sixth in shutouts with 32.
A four-time All-PSAC selection, Holloway was an All-PSAC Central first team pick the last two years and was a three-time first team All-PSAC pick overall. Last season she was honored as the PSAC Central and Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Year and a National Fastpitch Coaches Association first team All-American.
In the classroom, Holloway has also been exemplary, earning a spot on the Dean's List eight times and being named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete in all four years at IUP. She recently graduated with a degree in sports sdministration, compiling a 3.49 cumulative grade point average.
Holloway has also been very active in the community, volunteering with the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Hearts for the Hungry and at the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation walk throughout her college career.
