Yarde Takes Home Second PSAC West Freshman of the Week Honor

PSAC Release

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Following his second straight double figure performance in the men's basketball team's 77-51 victory over Seton Hill, Cornell Yarde II (Reading, Pa. /Schuylkill Valley) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Freshman of the Week.

Against the Griffins, the redshirt freshman put up 10 points and added three rebounds. He went 4-of-5 from the floor with one three ball and only turned the ball over once in his 17 minutes of play.

This is the second straight double figure game for Yarde, who set new career highs in the team's meeting with Clarion. Against the Golden Eagles, he finished the night with 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists in just 19 minutes. He went 4-of-8 from the floor and did not record one turnover.

Over the last five games, Yarde has shot 59.1 percent from the field. He's also been an ace from the charity stripe, failing to convert on just one of his eight attempts.

He's been the most impressive bench performer, over the last two competitions, contributing for 44.7 percent of the team's total bench points.

With the win against Seton Hill, the ninth-ranked Crimson Hawks claimed their fifth straight victory. The team has been clicking on all cylinders lately shining on offense and stifling opponents on defense. They've shot 56.3 percent over the last three games and have held opponents to an average of just 60.0 points per game.

They'll look to avenge their only two losses of the season, traveling to California (Pa.) Wednesday night and following that up with a home meeting against Gannon Saturday night. Both tips are set for 7:30 p.m.
