2014 Game ScheduleINDIANA, PA – The IUP athletics department and Global Spectrum has announced the football game promotions for the Crimson Hawks' 2014 schedule.
The season kicks off on Sept. 6 against Saint Augustine's, with IUP hosting its annual Football Alumni Game. Special for this year will be the 50th anniversary of the 1964 team, which was the first squad to win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West championship.
The opening game will also be Volunteer Day as IUP honors the volunteers in the Indiana community.
IUP's annual Hall of Fame Game against Mercyhurst on Sept. 27 will be a White Out, with the Crimson Hawks asking all fans to wear white to the game. Eighteen former student-athletes and coaches will be honored with their induction at a morning ceremony and will also be introduced to the crowd at halftime.
It will also be Scout Day, with Boy & Girl Scouts from all over Western Pennsylvania treated to a special day at IUP.
Oct. 11 will be Homecoming at IUP, with activities planned for the whole family inside George P. Miller Stadium beginning one hour prior to the 2 p.m. kickoff. Support your Crimson Hawks during Spirit Week leading up to the game, with theme's planned each day.
IUP will ask its fans to paint the skies Crimson on Sept. 25 when rival Slippery Rock comes to Miller Stadium. Wear your Crimson gear in support of your team against one of its longest-running opponents.
It will also be an IUP Employee Appreciation Game, with all school employees receiving free admission, courtesy of the President's Office. IUP will also support Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its Hawks for PINK! promotion, as a portion of ticket proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
As the regular season hits the final stretch, the Crimson Hawks will host Clarion on Nov. 1 in IUP's annual Military Game. Active military and veterans will receive free admission, with their friends and family receiving a special ticket discount. It will also be IUP Athletics Family Day, with family members of IUP student-athletes invited back to celebrate.
In addition, IUP athletics and Global Spectrum are pleased to present the Li'l Hawks Kids Club for children 12 and under. Members will receive an Official Membership Card, a goodie bag that includes a free t-shirt, water bottle and team poster. Members will also receive a monthly e-blast with news on the team and special offers. They will also receive half-off their ticket price at each home game and free admission on Homecoming.
