Sophomore football player Chris Temple has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 18. This is Temple's third weekly IUP honor of the fall as the running back racked up a career-high 255 yards and added three touchdowns in the Crimson Hawks' Coal Bowl win over rival California (Pa.) on Saturday night. He did his damage on 37 carries, averaging 6.9 yards per rush, and had runs of 46, 32 and 23 yards in the win.
His most important run of the night, however, came with 1:32 left in the fourth quarter as he burst up the middle for 13 yards on a third down and three at the IUP 28. The first down run sealed the 20-15 victory.
Temple has two 200-yard games this year and leads the PSAC and is ranked fourth in Division II with a 154.6 rushing yards per game.
