Women's basketball player Leslie Stapleton has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, December 6. It's Stapleton's third straight IUP weekly award and fourth of the year. 

Stapleton reached the 1,000-point milestone last week as she helped the women’s team to a 2-1 record in three games. The redshirt senior guard hit the mark with her 17th point at Kutztown on Saturday, finishing with 23 points and helping the Crimson Hawks score an 80-74 victory.
 
She scored 23 points against Shippensburg and 16 points against Gannon. Stapleton averaged a team-best 21.3 points per game, while shooting 60.0 percent (21-of-35) from the floor and dishing out 11 assists in three contests. She also made all 15 of her free throw attempts and is now a perfect 27-of-27 on the year.
 
Stapleton has helped IUP to a 7-3 overall record this year, including a 4-2 record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). She’s fourth in the league with 18.1 points per game and seventh with a 36.6 three-point field goal percentage.
