Men's basketball guard Brandon Norfleet has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, January 4. The award takes into account games dating back to the week starting on Monday, December 7. It's Norfleet's third IUP weekly award of the season.
The senior guard averaged 20.8 points and 5.2 assists per game in helping the Crimson Hawks to a 3-1 record since December 10, including three straight wins over PSAC opponents - 62-51 over California (Pa.), 82-74 at division-leading Edinboro and 91-64 at Cheyney. Norfleet averaged 3.5 rebounds, shot 47.0 percent from the floor and 73.9 percent from three-point range.
Norfleet came up huge in IUP's win at Edinboro, netting a career-high 31 points on 12-of-23 shooting, dishing out eight assists and grabbing four rebounds without turning the ball over in the full 40 minutes.
Norfleet leads IUP and ranks fourth in the PSAC with 20.9 points per game and is also fifth in the league with 4.3 assists per contest. The Crimson Hawks are 9-5 overall and are one game off the lead in the division with a 6-3 conference record.
