Sophomore baseball player Dan Sepic has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week in an announcement made Monday for the week ending on Sunday, April 3.
Sepic is an Athlete of the Week for the first time after the IUP baseball team went 3-1 in four games against Slippery Rock last week. Sepic went a combined 8-for-13 at the plate, while smacking two home runs, two doubles and batting in six runs.
The first baseman also scored six runs and had a slugging percentage of 1.231. The four games against Slippery Rock account for three of Sepic’s eight multi-hit games on the season for the Crimson Hawks.
In the Crimson Hawks’ 11-5 win over The Rock in game one Saturday, Sepic went 3-for-5 at the plate with five RBI. In the first inning, he homered down the left field line for a two-run shot, and followed that up with another two-run home run in the fourth inning.
On the year, Sepic is batting .361 with 23 RBI, two home runs and 20 runs scored. Sepic leads the Crimson Hawks in slugging percentage at .653 and is second in doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs and total bases.
