Junior cross country runner Austin Cooper has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, September 18. This is Cooper's third career IUP Athlete of the Week honor, and his first for the sport of cross country.

Cooper won his first career cross country meet on Saturday, taking home top honors at the Saint Vincent Invitational with a time of 26:57 in the 8K course, nearly 20 seconds faster than the second place finisher. He helped the men's cross country team to a sixth place finish at the event.

The win by Cooper was the first for an IUP men's cross country runner since 2013 when Clinton Keller won the season-opener Seton Hill Griffin Classic in Greensburg.
