Sophomore libero Jess Marut has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, October 30. This is Marut's first IUP weekly award for her career.
Marut had a big mileston weekend as she became just the seventh player in IUP women's volleyball history to reach 1,000 career digs. And at just a sophomore, she's the second fastest ever to reach that mark.
In two matches this weekend, Marut finished with 47 digs, including 28 in a five-set loss to Shippensburg on Friday night. She averaged 5.88 digs per set, increasing her season average to 5.34, which ranks fourth in the PSAC.
