Senior shortstop Hannah Mercer was named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the IUP Sports Information Office on Monday, May 1. 

This is Mercer's second straight IUP Athlete of the Week nod as she enjoyed a record breaking weekend in helping IUP softball to three wins in four games. Mercer broke the IUP program records for career hits and runs scored, hitting a combined 8-for-16 (.500) with a .750 slugging percentage and three runs scored in doubleheaders against Mansfield and Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Her efforts helped the Crimson Hawks clinch a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournament berth, driving in four runs with a double and home run, also stealing three bases.
 
Mercer heads into this week's PSAC Championships with 220 hits and 134 runs scored for her career.
