Junior sprinter Heather Sternby has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the IUP Sports Information Office on Monday, May 8
Sternby also had a successful weekend, winning her first PSAC title while helping to break a school relay record.
The sprinter won the 400 meters with a time of 57.14, edging out Shippensburg's Dior Alston by .34 seconds for the title. Sternby also ran the anchor leg of IUP's winning 4x400 relay, which broke the school record with a time of 3:49.53.
Sternby also scored points in the 200 meters, turning in a fifth place finish with a time of 25.52. It's Sternby's first career IUP weekly honor.
