Freshman outfielder Chris Eisel was named an IUP Athlete of the Week, as the IUP Sports Information Office announced its weekly awards on Monday, May 15.

Eisel earned his first IUP weekly honor after proving to be the Crimson Hawks' best hitter as IUP competed in the 2017 PSAC Baseball Championships in Johnstown. Moving into the leadoff spot, Eisel went a combined 4-for-8 with a team-best four runs scored and a 1.250 slugging percentage in two games.
 
In a surprising display of power, Eisel crushed two home runs, including a three-run shot over the huge left field wall at Point Stadium that gave IUP a 3-0 second inning lead over West Chester on Thursday night.
