Redshirt sophomore placekicker Dillon Sarka has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Tuesday, September 5.
This continues the praise for Sarka after he made the game-winning 46-yard field goal as time expired in the Crimson Hawks' 26-23 win over visiting Ashland in Thursday night's opener.
In his first game as IUP's starting kicker, Sarka made 4-of-4 field goals (23, 22, 25, 46) and both point after attempts to finish with 14 points on the night. His 46-yarder is the longest for an IUP kicker since 2013 and his four field goals are tied for the second most in a single game in IUP history. Sarka was also named the PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week on Monday.
This is Sarka's first career IUP weekly honor.
