Senior outside hitter Natalie Cignetti has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Monday, September 18.
Cignetti grabs her second IUP Athlete of the Week honor of the fall and fifth of her career after leading the women’s volleyball program to a 3-0 weekend with incredible offensive play.
The IUP co-captain totaled 51 kills in just three matches, averaging 5.10 kills per set with a .410 hitting percentage. She also had five service aces, 29 digs and two block assists, as she scored 57 total points in the three IUP wins. Cignetti’s biggest match came against West Virginia Wesleyan, with her 19 kills that day tied for 12th most in a three-set match by a Division II player this year.
Cignetti also moved into the top five at IUP in career kills, and will head into this weekend just shy of the 1,000-kill plateau with 981.
