Senior goaltender Alyssa Lerda has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Monday, September 25.

Lerda was in the cage on Saturday as the IUP field hockey team shut out sixth-ranked Millersville 1-0 at George P. Miller Stadium. The netminder saved seven shots on the night to keep the Marauders off the scoreboard, posting her first shutout of the season.

It was also the second straight Saturday the Crimson Hawks upended a top-10 team, as Lerda led the way in a 2-1 victory over then-seventh-ranked Kutztown two weekends ago.

This is Lerda’s first IUP weekly honor of the season, and the second of her career.
