Sophomore linebacker Nick Amendola has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Monday, Nov. 27.

Amendola helped top-seeded IUP to a 44-10 blowout win over visiting West Chester in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Division II Championships this past weekend. The Crimson Hawks outgained the fifth-seeded Golden Rams 558 yards to 232 yards, scoring 37 straight points to open the game.
 
Amendola posted a team-high 10 tackles as he was one of several contributors to the Crimson Hawks' defensive performance. It was his fourth double-digit tackle effort of the season for the first year starter.
 
IUP held West Chester to 121 rushing yards on 42 attempts, averaging just 2.9 yards per carry. PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Year Jarel Elder was held to 59 yards rushing, while Golden Rams quarterbacks completed just 9-of-28 passes for 111 yards and were sacked five times.
