Freshman running back Justice Evans has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Monday, Dec. 4.
Evans helped the Crimson Hawks to a NCAA Division II Football Super Region One title with a thrilling 27-22 win over visiting Assumption on Saturday at George P. Miller Stadium.
Evans and Damon Lloyd were named the Bill Thompson State Farm Players of the Game by the U92.5 radio broadcast team of Jack Benedict, Ab Dettorre and Greg Drahuschak.
Evans broke out in a big way, rushing for a season-high 167 yards on 21 carries. He had seven rushes of more than 10-yards, averaging 8.0 yards per carry, and helped an IUP rushing attack that totaled 340 yards on the day.
It was his second straight big output in the playoffs, as he now has 300 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries in two NCAA postseason games.
