Sophomore linebacker Damon Lloyd has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Monday, Dec. 4.
Lloyd helped the Crimson Hawks to a NCAA Division II Football Super Region One title with a thrilling 27-22 win over visiting Assumption on Saturday at George P. Miller Stadium.
Â
Lloyd and Justice Evans were named the Bill Thompson State Farm Players of the Game by the U92.5 radio broadcast team of Jack Benedict, Ab Dettorre and Greg Drahuschak.
Â
Lloyd helped lead another standout performance by the IUP defense. The linebacker finished with a team-best 11 tackles, including 2.5 tackles-for-loss, and also broke up a pass. The Crimson Hawks limited Assumption to a season-low 22 points to go along with just 318 yards of total offense. The Greyhounds were also held to 4-of-14 third down conversions.
Â
It was Lloyd’s fourth double-figure tackle output of the season, all of them coming in the last six games. He’s tied for the team-lead with 99 total tackles this year.
