Senior pole vaulter Liz Coppella has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week, which was announced by the sports information office on Monday, Feb. 5.

Coppella also had a career weekend, breaking her own school indoor pole vault record by clearing 3.76 meters (12-4) at the YSU National Mid-Major Invitational Friday night. That height is the fourth best in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and 12th best in Division II this year.
 
It is the second time that she's broken the IUP record in the past year. Her previous mark was 3.70 meters (12-1.5) set at the Kent State Tune-Up Feb. 17, 2017.
 
This is Coppella's fourth career IUP weekly award, her first of the year.
