INDIANA, Pa. – Junior Ally Burrows and senior Luise von Agris are the IUP Athletes of the Week, announced by the IUP Sports Information Office Monday morning.

Burrows posted the best two-game scoring stretch of any player in IUP women’s lacrosse history, tallying a combined 17 goals in games against Slippery Rock and Millersville last week.

The team co-captain scored the second most goals in IUP history with eight in a narrow 16-15 loss to Slippery Rock Wednesday night, then one-upped herself Saturday by tying the program record of nine goals in a 22-14 win over Millersville.

Burrows added an assist to 10 total points against the Marauders, the fifth highest point total in IUP history. Through seven games, she leads the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with 5.14 goals per game.

This is Burrows’ second IUP Athlete of the Week award of the season, and the fourth of her career.

Von Agris also had a record week on the tennis courts, breaking the IUP career combined wins record with 190 during the Crimson Hawks’ 9-0 win over Slippery Rock Saturday. She surpassed the three-year old record of 189 held by two-time PSAC West Athlete of the Year Tanya Timko.

This is von Agris’ second school record of the season, as she broke Timko’s singles wins record a couple of weeks ago and finished the weekend with 91 for her career. Von Agris is also five doubles wins shy of breaking that record.

Von Agris finished the week with a 6-0 combined record (3-0 at No. 1 doubles, 3-0 at No. 2 singles) to help the streaking Crimson Hawks to three 9-0 shutout victories.

This is von Agris’ second career IUP weekly honor and the first of the season.
