Freshman forward Mahogany Willis and junior cornerback JR Stevens were named the IUP Athletes of the Week, which was announced by the IUP Sports Information Office Monday morning.
Willis scored three goals as she helped the IUP women's soccer team to a 3-0 week with wins over Glenville State, No. 19 Slippery Rock, and Shippensburg.
Her highlight came in Wednesday's home upset win over The Rock, scoring both goals in IUP's 2-1 victory. She opened up the scoring with a quick goal in the 5th minute and tallied the game-winner in the 82nd, breaking a tie with a breakaway goal.
Willis also scored the first goal in the Crimson Hawks' 7-0 win at Glenville State Monday.
Through five games she's tied for second in the PSAC with a team-best four goals.
Stevens helped the fourth-ranked IUP football team to a 41-7 win over Millersville Thursday night with a pair of interceptions, including one returned 80 yards for a touchdown.
The score came midway through the second quarter, jumping a route and racing down the right sideline for the score. It was his second career pick-6. The 80-yarder is the seventh longest interception return in IUP history.
It was also Stevens' third career 2-interception game.
