Senior golfer Matt Cocorikis and senior libero Jess Marut were named the IUP Athletes of the Week, announced by the IUP Sports Information Office Monday morning.
 
It's the second career IUP weekly award for both student-athletes.
 
Cocorikis won his first collegiate tournament last Tuesday as he led the IUP men's golf team to a first place team finish at Clarion's Hal Hansen Invitational. The senior finished the two-round event with a 3-under 141, including a career-best round of 4-under 68 on the second day.
 
He was also named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Golfer of the Week for his efforts, as he worked through rainy conditions in Monday's opening round that forced golfers to play 29 holes on Tuesday.
 
Marut earns the award after hitting a career milestone over the weekend, becoming the second player in IUP women's volleyball history to record 2,000 career digs.
 
The senior captain finished with 58 digs in three matches, averaging 5.80 digs per set as the Crimson Hawks went 2-1. She totaled 39 digs over the weekend as IUP swept PSAC Central opponents Bloomsburg and Lock Haven.
