Sophmore tennis player Katya Minchenkova and Sophmore infielder Nick Hess were named the IUP Athletes of the Week, announced by the IUP Sports Information Office Monday.

Minchenkova was one of six Crimson Hawks to win a pair of matches as IUP women's tennis opened PSAC West play with a 7-0 win over visiting Seton Hill at the Maple Street Courts Sunday afternoon. Minchenkova won 6-4, 6-3, at first singles and teamed with Thais Andreotti for a 6-1 victory at the top doubles spot to help the Crimson Hawks break a three-match losing streak in what was also the home opener.

Hess collected six hits and drove in three runs but a pair of late inning surges by Cal U gave the Vulcans another doubleheader sweep with wins of 6-3 and 7-6 Sunday at Owen Dougherty Field. Hess went 6-7 with a double, home run and three RBI against Cal U, Sunday, as he extended his hit streak to six games.
