Senior golfer Matt Cocorikis and graduate hurdler Paris Vaughan were named the IUP Athletes of the Week, announced by the sports information office Monday afternoon.
 
This is the third straight IUP weekly honor for Cocorikis, who has six this year and seven for his career. It's Vaughan's first IUP weekly award.
 
Cocorikis won his third straight individual tournament championship last week, shooting a 2-under 214 at the three-round Crofton Invitational in Maryland. His score of 3-under 69 in the third round was the best of the tournament, as he held off a charge from second place Tommy Ethier of Bentley.
 
The three straight wins ties a program record set by national champion Gavin Smith during the 2009-10 season. Cocorikis now has four wins this season, which is the most since Smith won five in 2009-10.
 
The Crimson Hawks' top hurdler, Vaughan hit two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times at the windy 15th annual Paul Kaiser Classic in Shippensburg Saturday.
 
Vaughan finished third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.80 and turned in an 11th place finish in the 110 hurdles. Although not his season-bests, Vaughan is ranked seventh in the PSAC this season in the 400 hurdles and 11th in the 110 hurdles.
