Senior guard
Natalie Myers and junior cornerback
Nazir Streater were named IUP Athletes of the Week, announced Monday by the IUP sports information office.
It's the first career IUP weekly awards for both student-athletes.
Myers led the ninth-ranked IUP women's basketball team to a pair of blowout victories in the season's first action, averaging 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. She shot the lights out in the Memorial Field House, converting 68.4 percent (13-19) from the floor, including 10-14 from 3-point range.
Myers debuted with career-highs of 22 points, four assists and four steals to go along with six rebounds in just 26 minutes against Davis & Elkins. She went 8-12 from the field, including six 3-pointers. She followed up with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win over West Virginia Wesleyan.
Streater had a big day for the 19th-ranked IUP football team in the 35-6 win over Edinboro Saturday. He picked off two passes, both in the third quarter, broke up three more throws and finished with nine tackles to lead the Crimson Hawks' defensive effort.
Streater also had 92 yards on three kickoff returns, including a 37-yarder.
His performance made him the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week, the first of his career. He now leads the PSAC with five interceptions and 14 passes defensed this season.
