After helping the IUP women's basketball team set a program record for consecutive wins, senior guard
Natalie Myers and sophomore guard
Rajah Fink have been named IUP Athletes of the Week, announced Monday afternoon by the sports information office.
This is the third IUP weekly award of the season for Myers and the first career for Fink.
The two had big individual performances last week as the Crimson Hawks broke a 20-year old program record with 17 consecutive wins before extending it to 18 straight over the weekend.
Myers had the big game with 22 points in an 81-55 victory over Seton Hill that set the record. She shot 8-of-14 from the floor and tied a career-high with six 3-pointers in the win. Myers entered the day as the nation's leading 3-point shooter and after going 6-of-10, increased her season percentage to 51.4.
Myers added nine points, nine rebounds and four assists in Saturday's 73-59 win at Mercyhurst.
Saturday was a coming out party for Fink, who scored a career-high 20 points off the bench in the road win over the Lakers. She became the focal point of IUP's offense after entering just over a minute into the game, scoring six points in the first quarter and eight more in the second.
Fink shot 7-of-15 from the floor and went 6-of-7 from the foul line, adding four rebounds, a block and a steal in 32 minutes.
The Crimson Hawks improved to 20-1 overall and 15-0 in the PSAC after the two wins last week.
