Armoni Foster and
Justina Mascaro were named IUP Athletes of the Week, announced Monday morning by the sports information office.
This is Foster's fourth IUP weekly honor of the season and the third for Mascaro.
Foster averaged 25.0 points in two wins by the ninth-ranked IUP men's basketball team, tallying a pair of 20-point performances.
He had a big first half against Cal U with 19 of his 24 points in the first 20 minutes as the Crimson Hawks battled the upset-minded Vulcans on their home court. He finished the game with two big blocks in the final minutes on Brent Pegram, including one a 3-pointer with 1:37 to play.
Foster followed that with 26 points in the 85-83 win over Gannon, hitting a career-high 14 free throws. He went for 20 points in the first half, including 8-of-8 from the foul line, and finished with three steals and two blocks.
Mascaro averaged 21.5 points and shot 57.7 percent from the field as the fourth-ranked Crimson Hawks split games against Cal U and Gannon. She had a pair of 20-point performances, her seventh and eighth of the season.
She scored 20 points of IUP's 52 points against the Vulcans, going 7-of-12 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers and went 4-of-4 from the free throw line. She followed that up with 23 points in the win over second place Gannon as the Crimson Hawks extended their lead in the division. Mascaro converted 8-of-14 from field and 5-of-6 from the foul line while swiping a career-high four steals.
