INDIANA, Pa. – Dre Carr and Christian Jones were named the IUP Athletes of the Week after spectacular performances at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Track & Field Championships, announced by the sports information office Monday morning.
 
Both were conference champions in their respective events as the men's team finished fifth overall at the conference championship meet. This is Carr's fourth IUP weekly honor and the second for Jones.
 
Carr set the PSAC championship meet and facility record in the 60 meters with a time of 6.72 seconds. This was the second instance of the weekend he broke the meet record, posting a time of 6.78 in the Saturday prelims.
 
The top seed going into the finals, he defeated second place Roland Miles of Shippensburg by 0.1 seconds to earn gold. The time of 6.72 was also just 0.01 away from tying his own school record time he set earlier this season.
 
Jones successfully defended his men's high jump title over the weekend, winning the event with a height of 2.01 meters. This marks his third career PSAC individual title in the event, sweeping the indoor and outdoor championships as a junior last season.
