Danielle Ostendorf (Rockford, IL/Boylan Catholic) and
Morgan Cerveny (Richfield, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) both had double figures in kills, and
Emily Pany (Coplay, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) and
Laura McFadden (Orefield, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) combined for 48 digs to lead IUP to a 3-1 win over Mercyhurst and a split of a two-match trip to the Erie area.
The Crimson Hawks dropped a 3-0 decision Friday at Edinboro and are 17-6 overall and 8-5 in the PSAC. IUP defeat Mercyhurst by scores of 25-18, 25-18, 20-25, 25-21 and lost to the Fighting Scots by scores of 25-22, 26-24, 25-23.
In the win over the Lakers, Ostendorf had 13 kills and six blocks while Cerveny added 11 kills. IUP had 97 digs in the four-set match, including 26 by Pany and 22 along with six kills by McFadden.
Pany, IUP's all-time leader in digs, began the week ranked No. 4 in the nation with an average of 6.5 digs per set.
Chelsey Kreinbrook (Dawson, Pa./Geibel Catholic) had 28 assists,
Jessica Bodkin (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) registered eight kills and
Kadie Koeneman (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) made a pair of blocks.
In the loss to Edinboro, which has won 12 in a row and is 20-3 on the season, Bodkin led the Crimson Hawks with eight kills, McFadden had 16 digs and Ostendorf made four blocks.
IUP plays a non-conference match Wednesday at Seton Hill.
