Melissa Kornock (Hatfield/North Penn), IUP dropped a 4-3 decision in overtime to No. 18 West Chester in PSAC soccer action Saturday at South Campus Soccer Field.
Lindsay Lobevero (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) opened the scoring for IUP (6-3-1, 4-3-1 PSAC) at 17:22 when she found the back of the net after a scramble in front of West Chester (8-1, 6-1) goalie Lyndsie Bernardini. Kornock scored her first goal less than a minute later on a pass from
Carter Sheely (Carlisle/Cumberland Valley).
The Golden Rams answered with a goal from Sarah Oswald at 20:08 assisted by Melissa McKeary to set the halftime score at 2-1.
Kornock buried her second goal at 56:21 assisted by
Kelsey Fisher (Selinsgrove/Selinsgrove) giving IUP a two goal lead.
The Golden Rams answered right back with a penalty kick by Devon Swaim just 24 seconds later. The game-tying goal came from Maddie Mitchell at 67:06 on a corner kick from Swaim sending the game to overtime.
Jen Hutchinson tallied the game winner at 97:51 when a scramble in front of the net saw the ball roll over IUP goalie
Kelly Brennan (Middletown/Middletown) who made eight saves and took the loss.
The Crimson Hawks host Mercyhurst in PSAC action Wednesday at 4 p.m. at South Campus Soccer Field.
