The IUP women's volleyball team jumped out early against Clarion but couldn't hold on as they dropped a 3-1 decision Friday night at Memorial Field House.

The Crimson Hawks (18-7, 8-6 PSAC) took the first set 25-21, but Clarion (21-3, 13-1 PSAC) won the next three by scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-20.

Laura McFadden (Orefield, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) paced IUP with nine kills and added 14 digs. Jessica Bodkin (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) also had nine kills to go with three blocks. Danielle Ostendorf (Rockford, IL/Boylan Catholic) chipped in eight kills for the Crimson Hawks.

Emily Pany (Coplay, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) added 25 digs for IUP. Ericka Lentz (Reading/Holy Name) added 11 digs and Emily Vaughn (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) chipped in 10 digs. Morgan Cerveny (Richfield, OH/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) tallied a team high four blocks.

The Crimson Hawks return to action on Saturday when they host Slippery Rock in a PSAC showdown at 4 p.m. at Memorial Field House.
