Three IUP players reached double digits as the Crimson Hawks cruised to a 72-30 win at Washington Adventist Saturday night.
Lacey Claar (Imler, Pa./Claysburg-Kimmel) paced the Crimson Hawks (3-4) with 17 points shooting 5 of 6 from 3-point range. Claar now holds the school record with 175 3-pointers, breaking a tie with Katie Glaws. She also added seven assists and two steals. Claar is now 56 points shy of reaching 1,000 for her career and moved into a tie for eighth in school history with 311 assists.
Katelyn Marshall (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) chipped in 11 points, five steals and four rebounds.
Vianca Tejada (Pennsauken, NJ/Cherry Hill East) added 11 points and three boards off the bench.
IUP jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back, building a 38-14 halftime lead.
The Crimson Hawks picked up right where they left off and started the second half on a 10-2 run, getting five points on that run from
Katelyn Marshall (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton).
The Crimson Hawks shot 62.5 percent from the 3-point stripe (10 of 16), the third best mark in school history. The team's 23 steals are tied for the fifth highest total in school history.
Margaret Douglas led the Pioneers (0-9) with 11 points and grabbed six rebounds. Roneth Bubb added eight points and a team-high eight boards.
The Crimson Hawks return to action December 30 when they travel to Goldey-Beacom.
